Minister of Commerce and Industry Visits Ministry Pavilion at QITCOM 2019
HE Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Minister of Commerce and Industry, visited the Ministry's pavilion at Qatar Information Technology and Communication Conference and Exhibition “QITCOM 2019” on Tuesday, 29 October 2019. During his visit, Al Kuwari checked the initiatives and services introduced in the pavilion and was briefed about MOCI new smart excellence application, Qatar industrial portal and Single Window (SW) system services.
Al Kuwari and HE Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti, Minister of Transport and Communications (MOTC) toured the halls of QITCOM and inspected pavilions of the participating parties. He praised the high turnout and wide participation in the exhibition, which highlights interest in following latest achievements of the technological sector in general and cybersecurity in particular.
Earlier on Tuesday, Al Kuwari and President of Microsoft EMEA, Michel van der Bel, attended the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MOCI and Microsoft to establish a unified service platform. The MoU was signed by Mr. Abdullah Al Ali, Director of Information Systems Dept. at MOCI and Ms. Lana Khalaf, General Manager of Microsoft Qatar.
The MoU is a part of MOCI comprehensive digital transformation program, which will contribute to modernize its infrastructure and enable it to achieve more advances and transformation in its commercial operations and services provided to citizens. MOCI new platform will also reduce the time spent to launch new e-services.
Moreover, MOCI pavilion at QITCOM 2019 delivered presentations on its updated version of the new smart excellence app, Qatar Industrial Portal and Business Map, Ministry's unified inspection system and demos of the updated version of the supplying system.
The Ministry also highlighted through its pavilion the first package of SW system services, as well as online establishing processes of companies and factories using e-signature, in addition to introducing the SW system website.
