About QFMA

Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA) is responsible for controlling securities and activities related to dealing with securities according to the applied laws in Qatar, the international standards, and the needs of Qatari market. In addition, it also ensures integrity and transparency in trading by supervising the Qatar Stock Exchange as the competent authority.

QFMA also monitors the disclosure of companies listed in the Stock Exchange and the commitment of companies and individuals to the conditions of licenses granted for them, as well as making periodic and non-periodic inspections of the stock exchange and companies licensed to practice the controlled activities.

The Authority is eager to provide the necessary support to contribute in developing the capital market in Qatar through encouraging the introduction of new financial tools and trading mechanisms, applying advanced technology, and increasing the investor awareness of all activities related to dealing with securities.

QFMA Services

In the context of its efforts to develop the Qatari capital market and support the growth and diversification of the national economy, the Authority seeks to provide the following services to both individuals and companies:

  • Increasing public awareness about securities activities and encouraging investment in them.
  • Developing financial markets by supporting the information exchange with international markets to benefit from them.
  • Granting and renewing the licenses necessary for individuals and companies to practice financial activities.
  • Making investigations in financial irregularities, and inspecting the agencies under its supervision, to ensure their compliance with applied laws and regulations.
  • Making decisions on the applications submitted for registering external auditors and financial assessors, and approving the listing consultants in the emerging company market.
  • Making decisions on International Securities Identification Number requests issued in the country, applications for listing capital increase shares, as well as the applications for purchasing or selling treasury stocks.
  • Daily follow-up of trading in the QSE to ensure its integrity, and to detect any deception in the market.
