Lusail City covers an area of 38 square kilometers and includes four islands, which encompasses numerous residential units, office buildings, and entertainment and commercial districts. The city will initially accommodate 200,000 residents, a number that is expected to rise to 450,000 people. 

Lusail City will include:

  • Open spaces and green natural formations, to preserve land, water and natural life.
  • Integrated transport services to reduce vehicle emissions and save energy.
  • Establishing sustainable infrastructure, such as a district cooling systems in residential neighborhoods, use natural gas, collecting waste using air currents as well as a sewage treatment station.
  • Applying the principles of Gulf Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) to evaluate all buildings according to their sustainability and performance.
  • Achieving the Smart City vision by providing an integrated ICT infrastructure.

The plan:
The city will consist of several main landmarks:

  • Public Parks:

The public park covers an area of 56 hectares that is distributed into five zones, which are further separated by four roads. 

  • Sports facilities:

Stadium district: The stadium is built according to international FIFA standards, as it will host the opening and closing matches of 2022 FIFA World Cup. It will contain a minimum of 86,000 seats.

Golf district: It will be one of the most luxurious areas in the Middle East, due to its sophisticated design combining a lavish residential environment with a world-class excellent golf club surrounded by stunning landscapes.

  • Transport:

Lusail City will have an integrated, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly transport system.

Light Rail Transit: It comprises four main tramlines extending over 38.5 kilometers both underground and on ground, with 36 passenger stations.

Underground parking: There will be 2200 parking spaces in the Marina district; 2,750 lots in Lusail Commercial Boulevard; 10 pedestrian tunnels that connect the north and south parks; 1000 parking spaces in Saif Lusail and; 1030 lots Qetaifan Islands. 

Water taxi: Due to its 28 km long sea front, the water taxi is considered one of the fastest and most modern means.

Bicycle routes: An integrated road network for future cyclists to connect Lusail to the public transportation system, including the light railway station, the railway network and public parking.

Qetaifan Islands:

The Qetaifan Islands are exceptional by any standards, where the luxurious marine lifestyle meets the warmth of the city.
